MUSIC WE LOVE FOR LEARNING

So much of what my kids learn comes through great music. Music is catchy, sticky and fun! Since we love these songs so much, I'd like to share them with you.

Storybots

You might already know of Storybots through Netflix where Question Team 341B answers questions from kids by seeking out answers in the world outside their computer home. We first learned about Storybots through songs on YouTube. Sometimes I put their ABC Jamboree Playlist on and clean the house. ALL their songs are fun but here are my top 2.

Mr. DeMaio

This elementary school teacher has great talent for making videos that kids love. My kids have watched his "Volcanoes", "Earthquakes" and "Tornadoes" videos enough that they can nearly recite the dialog by memory. His songs, however, are where their love for Mr. DeMaio and mine meet. I could sing his "Six Times Table Song" all day...and I have never heard the original song he's parody-ing... he parodized...(looks up how to make parody a verb)...he is parodying.

They Might Be Giants

Now TMBG isn't a band primarily for children, but they do have an album titled "No!" which we play frequently in the car that's aimed at kids. Just recently we discovered they have science-themed songs as well. Lately, we have been singing these two:

Have Fun Teaching

Have Fun Teaching has lots and lots and lots of songs - many we haven't even listened to, like the sight words songs. The songs we do like, we've listened to over and over such as:

Kids Learning Tube

This unique YouTube learning song channel has so many songs we haven't touched them all, but it's a fantastic resource when you want to introduce a country, a concept or a part of the body. In fact, we really like the eyes song. And, with Miss 8's recent interest in Chemistry the Periodic Table Playlist is invaluable.

And, of course there's music we listen to just for the sheer enjoyment of it:

I hope these songs bring you delight as they do for us! What do you listen to?
